Are you interested in studying at the TUM in one of three disciplines: mathematics, physics or informatics? Do you need information concerning your application? Or have you already applied for admission at the TUM and want advice on how to start your study program?

Then you are at the right place. You can find information about applications and admissions here.

We are the Departmental Student Council of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics. All students of these three departments form the Departmental Student Council. The active part of the Student Council consists of dedicated students from the three departments who organize events, represent the students in department and university boards, and offer a range of services to students.

The Study Introduction Days (SET) is an event that we recommend to all new students. These usually take place during the winter semester on Thursday to Saturday before classes begin and in the summer semester on Thursday before classes begin. As part of Study Introduction Days, you will be officially welcomed by the deans, the student advisor, international consultant, the Departmental Student Council and the Student Council Executive Committee. You will also be introduced to our IT services. Tutors will show you the Garching campus and, as needed, the downtown campus, as well as the Munich nightlife on a pub crawl. You will all have breakfast together on Saturday, a rally on the Garching campus, and barbecue. The detailed program for the Study Introduction Days can be found here.

The math preparation courses take place before the Study Introduction Days. You will refresh school knowledge and prepare for your degree program. Moreover, this is a good opportunity to meet people from your degree program. We therefore recommend everyone to participate in their respective math prep course. The courses are being held in German.

You may also be interested in the information on the semester ticket. This was introduced in the winter semester 2013/14. The semester ticket consists of 2 parts. You pay the basic fee when you enroll along with the student union fee and with it you can use public transport throughout the entire MVV (Munich Public Transport and Tariff Association) area with your student ID from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and on weekends and national holidays. If you buy the additional ticket “Isar Card Semester” at the normal ticket automats, you can use public transport at any time of the day or night throughout the MVV zone.
