New at TUM and no idea how to register for courses?
Are you completely lost in the weeks before the lectures start?
Don’t worry, this page should help you orient yourself a bit.
Generally there are 3 pages that are important for you: the faculty’s page, where you can find you curriculum, TUM online, where you register for courses and exams, and the Moodle platform, which is used by most courses to convey course information to the participants. Occasionally you may also find some information on the pages of the chair of a course.
Before you register for courses, check in your curriculum what courses you should register for; it describes the courses you must take and includes a suggestion which one to take each semester.
The central registration platform is TUM online. Under the menu point “Courses” you can register for your lectures and exercises.
Beware that sometimes exercises are coupled to lectures and you may only be able to register for one.
For seminars, practica, tutorials, projects and some other special cases you may have to register on the special matching platform (informatics and mathematics only).
In the exceptional case where you aren’t yet fully registered as a student and aren’t able to register for courses in TUM online, try to write an email to the lecturers directly (best from your TUM E-Mail address), explain your situation and ask, if they can add you to their Moodle course.
We strongly suggest you to participate at the first appointment of a course, as there the lecturers will most likely present organizational details for that course that semester.
Also: At the end of the semester don’t forget to register for the exams as well!
