All students at the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics form the MPI Student Council. However, usually one refers to those who are actively involved in university politics, event preparation, and in the various units as the Student Council.

These units handle extensive tasks that arise regularly, such as script printing and sales or the Study Introduction Days. There are also appointees for smaller or one-time tasks.

Important topics are discussed at the Student Council Committee. It takes place every two weeks during the semester. You are welcome to attend these and have voting rights as a student of the MPI Department. A General Student Council Assembly takes place once during the semester.

Issues that affect the students across the whole university get taken up at the TUM Student Council. Each department sends student representatives to it, which you can appoint each summer semester at the university elections. As part of these elections you will also elect the student representatives at the Department Council and the Senate.

The student council of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics promotes inclusion, equal opportunities, disability access, a children- and family-friendly environment, tolerance, mutual respect and diversity at TUM. With progressing internationalisation at TUM, respect towards all cultures, nationalities, religions or beliefs gains importance. Gender equality and diversity are permanent topics of interest at a Technical University. Our goal is to include all students into a study and work environment in which individual abilities can develop and flourish.
